In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March this year, Polytag CEO Alice Rackley was one of 38 female entrepreneurs to be recognised by Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Awards.
Alice received a cash injection of £50,000 for Polytag, as well as bespoke mentoring and coaching, to enable the acceleration of Polytag’s journey to deliver a circular packaging economy.
The Women in Innovation Awards, now in its fourth year, is a key part of Innovate UK’s commitment to boosting the number of UK female entrepreneurs. It has been argued that if women started and scaled businesses at the same rate as men, it could add up to £250 billion to the UK economy (Rose review).
Commenting on her award, Alice said: “FMCG brands and retailers produce and sell billions of pieces of single-use packaging every year.
“Once the product is sold there is zero visibility, zero responsibility, zero culpability for what happens next, because no-one is able to track where it goes.
“Polytag will enable brands to finally take action.
“I am delighted to have won Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Award and secured the support to grow our business.”
